International Arthroplasty Fellowship

Quexst Healthcare brings you the opportunity to train with different experts in  Arthroplasty(Joint Replacement). We offer short duration International Fellowship of 4 weeks. Joint Replacement  surgery is a non-invasive orthopedic procedure that is used in the treatment of damaged joints.  The skill level & Precision required for these surgeries is far higher than open surgeries and therefore the guidance from an expert with a short duration fellowship is the demand of today.

Fellows will be given opportunity to do hands-on procedures as per the feedback received on the statement of purpose by the mentor.  The fellowship student will receive the certificate from the teaching hospital. The certificate issued on successful completion of the clinical rotation is not a registrable qualification.

Fellowship Fee

Fees – 7000 Euros + Rs. 80,000/- Including Academic, Admin and Operation Cost Plus Taxes

HANDS ON

For fellows joining the fellowship program, intention is to give hands-on exposure, however, the level of hands-on exposure in at the discretion of the mentor / faculty. Number of cases for hands-on depends on patient flow at the time of fellowship and no fixed number of cases commitment can be given.

Fellows must adhere to the hospital schedule and meet the timing expectation to get the best exposure.

It is important to write a good statement of Purpose to bring visibility to your existing skills to get better practical exposure

YOUR DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

CV: Your Curriculum Vitae reflects your educational background as well as your professional profile. It needs to be up-to-date with all important details like qualification, experience, achievements given in detail.

SOP: Your statement of Purpose is the most important document, as it describes why you want to do the observership. It shows your keenness to learn new professional skills. It portrays your existing knowledge base. It is an important document to be specially prepared for the observership opportunity you are seeking to join.

UG & PG CERTIFICATES: These documents are proofs of the qualifications written about in CV.

COUNCIL REGISTRATION: Your medical council registration details are important, as without these, you do not become eligible to practice and therefore also for the learning opportunity.

PASSPORT COPIES: For international learning opportunity, valid passport with validity for 6 months after completion of the stay outside the country of origin is necessary.

Fellowships are planned as per the learning objectives, not necessarily structured, the fellow is expected to get complete practical knowledge, hence the fellow will shadow the mentor and will be involved in many professional activities as advised by the mentor

Only those with Surgery qualification and registered with Medical Council are eligible for fellowships. MBBS doctors may be given an opportunity to observe.

The Patient flow is not predictable; hence number of surgeries are not committed to. The mentor will try to give the best possible practical exposure to the student.

The intension is to give hands-on exposure, however, the level participation in the surgery by the fellow is at complete discretion of the mentor. Independent surgeries are not given to the fellow.

You will get a fellowship certificate signed by your mentor, on successful completion. The awarded certificate is not a registrable qualification.

Yes. Attendance of 4 weeks duration is mandatory to earn fellowship certificate.

No, online fellowships are not available.

These are short duration fees applicable fellowships. No stipend is paid.

Fellowship student is expected to participate and learn through OPD, OT, Wards. Understanding,  analyzing all cases and maintain a logbook of all cases worked on.

These fellowships are not accredited.

The time slot of the expert mentor needs to be booked prior to the fellowship dates, hence full payment needs to received, minimum one month before the fellowship start date.

It is not possible for the mentor to talk to every student, hence a good statement of purpose(SOP) needs to be submitted. The mentor will review the SOP confirm on meeting the learning objectives of the fellow. The purpose is served by the SOP confirmation, which is given as eligibility confirmation.

Yes. It is possible to share references , once the prospective student shows the commitment to join by submitting the required documents. Please be in touch with our counselors for the same.

All documents are mandatory for fellowship registration. The documents required are Copies of MBBS, Post graduate certificate, medical council registration and Statement of purpose with the latest updated CV.

It is important to submit updated CV and SOP to get good fellowship experience. It is through these documents, your mentor understands your professional expertise.

 

While completing the Post graduation, it is better to opt for Observership and fellowship after completing the PG. The mentor will be able to give better hands-on to those who are qualified.

It is good to plan and register for the fellowship 4 months advance and latest at least 2 months before the start date.

Fellow must confirm the joining date 45 days before the start date.

You need to manage your own stay arrangement, closest to the place of work.

The fellow is expected to follow the timings as defined by the hospital / mentor, Typically about 10 hrs a day, Monday to Friday. However, depending on the cases, the mentor may ask the fellow to attend surgeries on weekend also.

The fellowship once scheduled should not be changed. Only under emergency conditions and approved by the mentor the schedule may be changed. However, a change will have commercial impact.

The opportunity to wash or scrub is at the discretion of the mentor. It is important for the fellow to show keen interest in learning and sharing the existing skills through the CV, statement of purpose and particularly to get good hands-on exposure.

Yes. Every fellow needs to maintain a log book, for successful completion.

It would be possible, however, please check with the counselor availability of the positions with the mentor. We typically one student to a mentor at a time. However, based on the patient flow, it is possible to assign more than one fellow, some times.

The estimation of cost needs to be done for Academic fees and Travel plus Living expenses. Academic fee is mentioned in the quote given by Quexst. The Travel expenses include international travel (VISA fees and Airfare) and Location based travel during the fellowship period. The living expenses include stay , food, laundry, site seeing and any other incidental expenses. These depend on your living style and preferences. These are very person dependent. The actual expenses also get impacted by currency conversion rates.

It is advisable to plan your fellowship well in advance to be able to make all arrangements properly. There are many online booking options. Typically, these options do work well. Your travel agent can help you with VISA and Travel tickets. Those familiar with these procedures can also do all booking online. Quexst will help you with some facilitation, but Quexst is not a travel agency. All the payments for these bookings need to be made by the student directly, Academic fees and Facilitation fee charged by Quexst does not include charges for VISA, Stay, Travel etc.

The Quexst counsellor will give this information. Every country has different VISA requirement. Quexst Through teaching hospital) will provide invitation letter after the fellow has paid the fees.

Yes. The family can travel with the fellow, however, it is advised that the family should join before or after completion of the fellowship, so that the fellow can attend the rotation, giving it sufficient time and focused attention.

The fee is charged is only for academics. The fee charged is teaching fee to the hospital and administrative and facilitation charges to Quexst. It doesn’t include VISA, Travel, Stay, Food and incidental expenses.

No. To practice medicine and surgery in any country, the medical professional needs to have ‘license to practice’ in that country, issued by local authorities in that country. The fellowship awarded does not give the fellow a “license to Practice”.

No. You do not need to Learn Spanish, as all our mentors are English speaking and the student is not expected to communicate with the patients in absence of the mentor or authorized staff .
