From the shoulder, through the elbow and wrist to the hand, all upper limb lesions are treated there, whether traumatic (wounds, fractures, sports accidents), congenital (malformations), degenerative (rheumatic lesions, osteoarthritis) or others (Dupuytren’s disease, tumor pathology).

Treatment of elbow and wrist to the hand, all upper limb lesions whether traumatic (wounds, fractures, sports accidents), congenital (malformations), degenerative (rheumatic lesions, osteoarthritis) or others (Dupuytren's disease, tumor pathology).
Surgery for Neurological conditions of the upper limb (nerve compression, brachial plexus palsy, tetraplegia, spasticity).
WRIST Arthroscopy

Post graduate orthopedic Surgeons are eligible to join this fellowship. Depending on learning objectives, number of years surgical experience is also important.

HANDS ON

For fellows joining the fellowship program, intention is to give hands-on exposure, however, the level of hands-on exposure is at the discretion of the mentor / faculty. Number of cases for hands-on depends on patient flow at the time of fellowship and no fixed number of cases commitment can be given.

Fellows must adhere to the hospital schedule and meet the timing expectation to get the best exposure.

Its is important to write a good statement of Purpose to bring visibility to your existing skills to get better practical exposure

YOUR DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

CV: Your Curriculum Vitae reflects your educational background as well as your professional profile. It needs to be up-to-date with all important details like qualification, experience, achievements given in detail.

SOP: Your statement of Purpose is the most important document, as it describes why you want to do the observership. It shows your keenness to learn new professional skills. It portrays your existing knowledge base. It is an important document to be specially prepared for the observership opportunity you are seeking to join.

UG & PG CERTIFICATES: These documents are proofs of the qualifications written about in CV.

COUNCIL REGISTRATION: Your medical council registration details are important, as without these, you do not become eligible to practice and therefore also for the learning opportunity.

HOW TO REGISTER

The steps to be followed are as follows:

Send us copies of your Medical Council Registration, degrees, and your CV in the specified format.
Send us your statement of Purpose of Motivation letter stating your learning objectives.
Let us know preferred & suitable time slot for your rotation. We typically start on First Monday of the month
Your request with documents provided by you will be sent for eligibility confirmation and availability of time slot requested by you.
On receiving confirmation, the eligibility confirmation cum proforma invoice will be sent to you. The initial booking amount needs be paid as mentioned in Proforma Invoice.
Our concierge service can help you book the travel and Stay.
Pay the balance fee as per the schedule given in the Proforma Invoice and start making the plans for joining the clinical rotation.
You will receive an undertaking to be signed by you. Please go through the undertaking carefully and send us the signed copy of the same.
On receiving the signed declaration, you will receive the intimation of joining guidelines for your clinical rotation.
Please carry your and your address proof & original certificates for verification by the teaching hospital.
Please make sure you contact the contact person on the say before joining the fellowship and confirm the time and location.

Terms & Conditions

As the Clinical Rotation are conducted in private hospitals, to protect the interest of the patients and as per medical ethics, the student will only observe the patients and surgeries. The intention is to give the student opportunity to learn through hands-on experience, however, the decision to provide wash-up or scrub opportunity to the student will be taken by the mentor during the rotation period depending on the skills and knowledge of the student.
This is full time learning opportunity, student is expected to be present for minimum 10 hours for 6 days a week.
Medical Council registration is required
The cost of medical council registration will be borne by the student. The rotation duration is minimum 4 weeks or as defined in eligibility confirmation letter. The clinical rotation period is without a break. There are pre-defined start and end dates. Students need to comply to the pre-defined dates.
Patient flow with any mentor and at different time of the year can not be predicted and cannot be committed to.
A student is expected to travel to learn , if required where ever the mentor is conducting a case. The student could be asked to be present to assist / observe a case at any time of the day.
The registration is valid for 6 months. The student must join the rotation within 6 months of registration date.
The Initial Instalment of fees paid by the student is non-refundable under all conditions. In case of cancellation of rotation by the mentor or teaching hospital, the same will be re-scheduled & no refund will be given.
This proforma invoice defines the scheduled dates of your rotation. The same can be modified only once, minimum one month before the joining date. The modification request must be sent on fellowships@quexst.com in writing. the new scheduled date must be within 6 months of date of registration.
The modification request must be sent on support@quexst.com for the new schedule date 6 weeks prior and the re-scheduled date must be within 6 months of initial registration of fellowship program.

FAQs

1. Is the observership structured?

No. The student is expected to get good practical knowledge, hence the student will shadow the mentor and will be involved in many professional activities as advised by the mentor

2. I am MBBS, not a qualified surgeon, but I have been doing surgeries, am I eligible for Observership?

Only those with Surgery qualification and registered with Medical Council are eligible. MBBS doctors may be given an opportunity to observe, depending on learning objectives & number of

3. How many surgeries can I get to work on?

The Patient flow is not predictable; hence number of surgeries are not committed to. The mentor will try to give the best possible practical exposure to the student.

4. Will I get to do hands on? Can I get to do independent surgeries?

No. This is a pure observership.

5. What kind of certificate will I get?

You will get a observership certificate signed by your mentor, on successful completion. The awarded certificate is not a registrable qualification.

6. Is 2 weeks duration mandatory?

Yes. Attendance of 2 weeks duration is mandatory to earn observership certificate.

7. What are the activities involved in observership?

The student is expected to observe and learn through OPD, OT, Wards. Understanding, analyzing all cases and maintain a logbook of all cases worked on.

8. Are the observership accredited?

The observerships are aimed at enhancing knowledge and are not accredited or registrable qualifications.

9. Can I pay after completing the observership?

The student is expected to pay full fees, minimum one month before the observership start date. We also give GST applied receipt.

10. Can I discuss with the mentor and then register?

The counselors will give full information and resolve your queries. It is not required to discuss with the mentor. However, after registration for the program, you will receive the contact details of mentor’s assistant along with joining formality details.

11. Can I complete 2 weeks by coming for a week at a time and complete it in 6 months?

It is advised not to split the observership, unless specifically advised by the mentor.

12. Can I get an attachment in my city?

Quexst does offer mentors in multiple cities. Please check with the counselor, the availability.

13. How many students per batch register for observership?

Typically, we allocate one student at a time and maximum 2.
