HANDS ON

For fellows joining the fellowship program, intention is to give hands-on exposure, however, the level of hands-on exposure is at the discretion of the mentor / faculty. Number of cases for hands-on depends on patient flow at the time of fellowship and no fixed number of cases commitment can be given.

Fellows must adhere to the hospital schedule and meet the timing expectation to get the best exposure.

Its is important to write a good statement of Purpose to bring visibility to your existing skills to get better practical exposure

YOUR DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

CV: Your Curriculum Vitae reflects your educational background as well as your professional profile. It needs to be up-to-date with all important details like qualification, experience, achievements given in detail.

SOP: Your statement of Purpose is the most important document, as it describes why you want to do the observership. It shows your keenness to learn new professional skills. It portrays your existing knowledge base. It is an important document to be specially prepared for the observership opportunity you are seeking to join.

UG & PG CERTIFICATES: These documents are proofs of the qualifications written about in CV.

COUNCIL REGISTRATION: Your medical council registration details are important, as without these, you do not become eligible to practice and therefore also for the learning opportunity.

HOW TO REGISTER

The steps to be followed are as follows:

Send us copies of your Medical Council Registration, degrees, and your CV in the specified format.
Send us your statement of Purpose of Motivation letter stating your learning objectives.
Let us know preferred & suitable time slot for your rotation. We typically start on First Monday of the month
Your request with documents provided by you will be sent for eligibility confirmation and availability of time slot requested by you.
On receiving confirmation, the eligibility confirmation cum proforma invoice will be sent to you. The initial booking amount needs be paid as mentioned in Proforma Invoice.
Our concierge service can help you book the travel and Stay.
Pay the balance fee as per the schedule given in the Proforma Invoice and start making the plans for joining the clinical rotation.
You will receive an undertaking to be signed by you. Please go through the undertaking carefully and send us the signed copy of the same.
On receiving the signed declaration, you will receive the intimation of joining guidelines for your clinical rotation.
Please carry your and your address proof & original certificates for verification by the teaching hospital.

Terms & Conditions

As the observerships are conducted in private hospitals, to protect the interest of the patients and as per medical ethics, the student will only observe the patients and surgeries.
If Local Medical Council registration is required. The cost of medical council registration will be borne by the student.
The minimum rotation duration is in weeks as defined in eligibility confirmation letter. The clinical rotation period is without a break. There are pre-defined start and end dates. Students need to comply to the pre-defined dates.
Patient flow with any mentor and at different time of the year cannot be predicted and cannot be committed to.
A student is expected to travel to learn, if required where ever the mentor is conducting a case. The student could be asked to be present to assist / observe a case at any time of the day.
The registration is valid for 6 months. The student must join the rotation within 6 months of registration date.
The Initial Instalment of fees paid by the student is non-refundable under all conditions. In case of cancellation of rotation by the mentor or teaching hospital, the same will be re-scheduled & no refund will be given.
The proforma invoice defines the scheduled dates of your rotation. The same can be modified only once, minimum one month before the joining date. The modification request must be sent on support@quexst.com in writing. the new scheduled date must be within 6 months of date of registration.

FAQs

1. Are the fellowships structured?

Fellowships are not structured, the fellow is expected to get complete practical knowledge, hence the fellow will shadow the mentor and will be involved in many professional activities as advised by the mentor

2. I am MBBS, not a qualified physician, but I have been seeing patients, am I eligible for fellowships?

Only with Post graduate qualifications, good experience & registered with Medical Council are eligible for fellowships. MBBS doctors may be given an opportunity to observe.

3. Will I get to do hands on?

The intension is to give hands-on exposure, however, the level participation by the fellow is at complete discretion of the mentor.

4. What kind of certificate will I get, Is the certificate recognized?

You will get a fellowship certificate signed by your mentor, on successful completion. The awarded certificate is not a registrable qualification.

5. Is 2 weeks in person observership mandatory?

Yes. Attendance of 2 weeks duration is mandatory to earn fellowship certificate.

6. Are online fellowships available?

No, online fellowships are not available.

Can I get stipend during fellowships?

These are short duration fees applicable fellowships. No stipend is paid.

7.What are the activities involved in fellowship?

Fellowship student is expected to participate and learn through OPD, Understanding, analyzing all cases and maintain a logbook of all cases worked on.

8. Are the fellowships accredited?

These fellowships are not accredited.

Can I pay after completing the fellowship?

The time slot of the expert mentor needs to be booked prior to the fellowship dates, hence full payment needs to received, minimum one month before the fellowship start date.

9. Can I discuss with the mentor and then register?

It is not possible for the mentor to talk to every student, hence a good statement of purpose(SOP) needs to be submitted. The mentor will review the SOP confirm on meeting the learning objectives of the fellow. The purpose is served by the SOP confirmation, which is given as eligibility confirmation.

10. Can I complete 2 weeks by coming for a week at a time and complete it in 6 months to 1 year?en register?

It is not advisable to split the fellowship duration into weekly segments, however, if required it can be split into maximum 2 slots.

11. Can you share references of students who have done fellowship with the mentor suggested to me?

Yes. It is possible to share references, once the prospective student shows the commitment to join by submitting the required documents. Please be in touch with our counselors for the same.

12. Can I get an attachment in my city?

We have mentors in multiple cities, Please check availability with our counselor.

13. Which documents are needed before registering for the fellowship?

Copies of MBBS, Post graduate certificate, medical council registration and Statement of purpose with the latest updated CV.

14. Can I register for a fellowship without my CV?

All documents are mandatory for fellowship registration. The documents required are Copies of MBBS, Post graduate certificate, medical council registration and Statement of purpose with the latest updated CV.

15. Can I register for a fellowship without my CV?

It is important to submit updated CV and SOP to get good fellowship experience. It is through these documents, your mentor understands your professional expertise.

16. I am a third year student of MD/ DNB. Am I eligible for fellowships

While completing the Post graduation, it is better to opt for Observership and fellowship after completing the PG. The mentor will be able to give better hands-on to those who are qualified.

17. How much in advance do I need to register for a fellowship?

It is good to plan and register for the fellowship 4 months advance and latest at least 2 months before the start date.

18.When should I reconfirm my fellowship schedule, so as to book my stay and travel?

Fellow must confirm the joining date 45 days before the start date.

19.Where will I stay during the fellowship?

You need to manage your own stay arrangement, closest to the place of work.

20.What are the typical timings during fellowship?

The fellow is expected to follow the timings as defined by the hospital / mentor, Typically about 10 hrs a day, Monday to Friday.arrangement, closest to the place of work.

21.Can I change my fellowship schedule?

The fellowship once scheduled should not be changed. Only under emergency conditions and approved by the mentor the schedule may be changed. However, a change will have commercial impact.

22.Can I wash or scrub during the fellowship?

The opportunity to wash or scrub is at the discretion of the mentor. It is important for the fellow to show keen interest in learning and sharing the existing skills through the CV, statement of purpose and particularly to get good hands-on exposure.

23.Do I need to maintain any logbook during the fellowship?

Yes. Every fellow needs to maintain a log book, for successful completion.

24.During the fellowship, if I have any issues, whom do I contact?

25.I want to do the fellowship together with my friend. Is this possible?

It would be possible, however, please check with the counselor availability of the positions with the mentor. We typically one student to a mentor at a time. However, based on the patient flow, it is possible to assign more than one fellow, some times.
